In 1939, our neighborhood
leaders recognized the special character of the Garden
District and set out to protect its unique charm and
quality of life. Today, its membership of hundreds of
families and businesses are able to speak with one collective
voice in matters of importance to the neighborhood at
large.
The Garden District Association is a non-profit, qualified
501c3 neighborhood organization dedicated to improving
the Garden District of New Orleans. The official boundaries
are both sides of Louisiana Avenue, Magazine Street,
Josephine Street and Carondelet Street. The Association,
open to all residents, commercial establishments and
interested individuals, takes an active and daily role
in all matters of neighborhood interest.
Mission:
To preserve and improve the Garden District as a vital,
historic residential neighborhood.
